'Sea Garden' beach plastic coral

A coral made from hundreds of pieces of plastics collected during Sussex beach cleans. Inspired by nature, made from trash.

This coral celebrates the colours, textures and life found in nature, bleaching out to white to represent the harm we are causing our natural world. Sea Garden was inspired by the colours found in my garden and in woodland walks and the incongruous fake plants and leaves made from plastic that regularly wash up on beach cleans.

This piece includes cotton bud sticks, lollipop sticks, fishing gear, security tags, plastic clothes pegs, pen lids, , plastic bottle lids, disposable food trays, plastic cups, snack wrappers, detonation cables, tennis ball felt, netting, bubble wrap, strap packaging, plastic bottles, balloon ribbon, worn and weathered plastics and fabrics, and plastic plants. All now safely away from the sea and turned from trash into something to treasure.

*10% will be donated to Sussex Seabed Restoration Project* working to restore the kelp across our Sussex coast.
