Fishing net trinket bowl workshop

Fishing net trinket bowl workshop

Wednesday 12th June 8pm-10pm

Join me at Bottle & Jug Dept, Worthing to make a hand stitched bowl from discarded fishing nets and materials found on Sussex beach cleans.

Fishing gear that is abandoned or lost at sea is known as Ghost Gear because it continues to trap and endanger wildlife long after its original lifespan. It's one of the biggest threats to marine life and washes up on our beaches every day. We will be upcycling this material into colourful and durable pots to use in your home. Come and create something to treasure from trash washed up on our beaches.

This is a relaxed small group workshop where we can take time out for ourselves to be creative, have a drink and a chat while we craft, meet new people and make connections with like-minded folks.

The bowls are easy to make and once you’ve learned the skills needed you’ll be able to recreate them at home, beach cleaning your way to making gifts for friends and decorating your home.

No experience needed and all equipment and materials provided. Please feel free to bring any dry fishing net or rope or beach finds you would like to incorporate into your design.

The Bottle & Jug Dept is a craft beer bottle shop and natural wine specialist, supporting indie producers - and creatives. The bar will be open throughout the evening so we can enjoy a glass of something delicious while we craft.
